Branching Centaury (Centaurium pulchellum (Sw.) Druce)

Gentianaceae (Gentian Family)

Base Flower Color: Pink
Reproductive Phenology: Apr, May, Jun, Jul, Aug, Sept
Notes: Some states list this plant as invasive. That disturbs me because I found this plant at one of my favorite natural areas, May Prairie in Manchester, TN. I have never seen it there before, and it is not on the list of plants for May Prairie. I have seen how fast plants like Poisonous Hemlock can go from unknown to abundant in a very short time!

  1. Yup. Not a good sign that you saw this pulchellum at May Prairie. I checked it out on BONAP and it is indeed present and exotic in the surrounding states.
